Al Ahly top Douanes to conquer title in Kigali

Al Ahly - Douanes 80-65

Al Ahly clinched the Basketball Africa League title. They knocked down Douanes in the championship game in Kigali today. Anunwa Omot (203-G) came up with 22 points to pace the Egyptian team.
Al Ahly held their opponents to just 10 points in the first period to gain a 7-point lead. Douanes picked up the tempo in the second frame. The Senegalese team poured in 23 points to pull within five points 33-38. But Al Ahly took off in the third term. The Egyptian team went on a massive 25-13 run to take a decisive 17-point lead. They protected it well throughout the fourth stanza and raced to the victory. Corey Webster (188-SG-1988, college: Lambuth) tossed in 13 points, while Michael Thompson (177-PG-1989, college: Northwestern, agency: Slash Sports) had 10 points in the victory. Jean-Jacques Boissy (183-PG-2000) replied with 20 points for Douanes. Adama Diakhite (205-C-1997) had 14 points in the loss.
